My workplace was located near Piata Romana, that is still a city centre and from there it is quite near to old town. So, after work if I wanted to went for a walk it was easy just wondered in streets or in case I was tired just took a subway which was about 7 minutes walk from the office.

Bucharest is the city with a population about 2 million people, with incoming students and employees it might be even more. So, be prepared for heavy traffic with often sound of honk (even without any reason in my opinion) and also crowded subway especially line M2 - the one crossing the city from the north to south.
Well, if you want to find a peaceful place there are lots of parks where you can also find a shade during hot summer days or just go running.
While walking in the streets you can see "layers" almost from each past period if you're paying attention to architecture, or just find awesome patisseries and bakeries.

transylvania - Brasov, Sibiu, Sighisoara, Sinaia, transfagarasan, transalpina
seaside - Vama Veche (if you're looking for party), Vadu (if you want to have quiet wild beach) Mamaia (and others beaches which are around Constanta)
delta of Danube - it's quite far from Bucharest, but if you like nature you will love it. Just remember that it is not possible to go to the sea and back in the same day.
And also I was recommended to visit the painted monasteries in Bucovina.

I worked in not a big studio Western outdoor, where I was the only intern. Boss and colleagues were very kind and solicitous to me. They gave me also lots of advises and suggestions what to see and I could even took days off if I needed.

More or less I worked in Autocad (most of the time on the project for apartment building) and also I made few 3d models.
And well, working time here usually from 9/10am (or in some cases later) till 6/7 pm :) I think Romanians aren't morning people.

I recieved my salary after 3 or 4 weeks. in cash - just mentioning it, because I expected it as a bank transfer. I got 1320 RON (about 290 euros) from which I paid 65 euros for accommodation. And I think it would be enough money if I hadn't gone for a trip almost every weekend and hadn't wanted to taste so many meals.
So, bring some money with you, because the landscape of Romania is advices.

In general people don't speak English or young people are too shy to speak in English. But even though I survived and there was still a way found how to communicate. Just be creative and remember that only few % of communication depends on language ;)

The accommodation was provided by IAESTE (Romanian), it was a dorm of Faculty of sport. There were apartments, each for 4 people with own bathroom and we had one common kitchen. Good news is that during my stay, the apartments were renovated, so, they should look prettier than during my time. :)

Well, I guess that in my case it had to be a misunderstanding and I had to wait about 2 hours for someone to pick me up. But when I talked to other people no one had any problem and everything went well.

About events - IAESTE didn't organised any, so it was up to us to made them up and surprisingly or not it worked.

As we live together at dorm it wasn't a problem to meet other students. And in fact we spent a lot of time together either at dorm just watching movies, chatting or in the old town. Or during the weekends somewhere on trips that we made up by ourselves.

Well, about sport I'm not every day exercising person, but in parks I saw places with the stuff for exercising and I'm sure that in the city as Bucharest there are plenty of opportunities.
About culture, there are lots of museums (The national art gallery is really good one and as well The open air museum) and also during my stay there were many festivals and concerts (Street food carnival was amazing - delicious food and good music) Just keep track of FB events.

Also you can find a lot of kebab places where they making really tasty shaorma or kebab, and I found a place with amazing turkish baklava - Emre Baklava

There was a good internet connection so it wasn't a problem to stay in touch with family and friends. And as Romania is a part of EU phone calls are also not so expensive opportunity.

Well, you can find a lot of think what to do via TripAdvisor, but if I should recommend something - try any rooftop bar, because there are not many places (or maybe none) where you can have the view of the city from a top.

If you like hiking don't forget your hiking shoes and go for a hike to Carpathians.

Well, communication before my arriving went well, but first impression when I had to wait about 2 hours at the airport for someone to pick me up wasn't very pleasing. But even though I had met very nice iaeste volunteers and we went out few times. Also, they were always helpful.
