Amman is the capital city of Jordan. We lived in Capri Hotel close to the 5th circle, one hour by walking from city centre (20 minutes by taxi).
The company Hikma was 20 minutes by taxi and 1 hour by walking.
Even though the political situation in the neighbouring countries is not very stable, Jordan is very safe at the moment.

Like in other cities also in Amman you can find events like a film festival, concerts, markets etc., there is cinema, shopping malls, churches....
Amman is wonderful mainly because of location on hills; there are beautiful views from other parts of the city.
There are also a lot of romanic places like Citadel, Roman amphitheatre etc.
Amman is an expensive city.

There are many one-day trips you can do from Amman like Jerash, Ajloun, Madaba, Wadi Mujib. For longer trips, we went to Petra, Wadi Rum, Aqaba and the Dead Sea, Karak...

It is better to travel by car but public transport is also working and it is really cheap.

I worked in HIkma pharmaceutical which is an international company with origin in Jordan.
They have their plants in Amman and also a department for research and development. Quality of the business is comparable with big European corporates.

I worked in the QC department in Mirco Lab. They offered me that every week I can change the department to see more thinks. I liked my job in the micro lab a lot, so I didn't change the department.
I was working in Hikma with another IAESTE trainee from Tunisia, so they pick up us every day by car and also took of us at home after work. We had a card for free lunch too.

In the micro lab, we check all products from plants for microbiological safety. We also had ordinary tests of water treatment (we was going to the plant to collect samples every week).
We test the efficiency of sanitary agent and do another test.

They have the proper equipment and trained employes.
I enjoyed my work and learnt a lot.

Like other trainees, I had 250 JD per month.
It was enough for food and hotel accommodation, not for travelling and other fun.
You have to be ready to spend some your own money for travelling in Jordan, but to be honest I don't regret any money I spent here.
If you wanna do some party sometimes, prepare a lot of money :D

In company everybody can speak English (somebody basic, somebody like native), in the city, you will always find way how to understand each other and usually, it is great fun!:)
It is also good to learn some basic in Arabic (btw it is beautiful language).

We paid just 20 JD per week (official price of the hotel is 25 JD per day) and it was provided by IAESTE Jordan.
Quality of accommodation was really high.

IAESTE Jordan is active and takes care about trainees.
They arrange us the pick-up from the airport by taxi for 20 JD.
They organized of us two trips and some events during every week (going to cafe, fast walking, shisha places...).
Whenever somebody needed something, they did their best to help us.

All trainees lived in the same hotel, so we were meeting each other every day. I also worked with IAESTE trainee from Tunisia in Hikma company.

We went to the cinema, film festival, markets, art festival, ...
For sport, there are groups for fast walking - walking in the city during the evening. It is nice fun, I recommend it:).
Some trainees were going to play football quite often too.

Because I am a vegetarian I didn't try traditional food Mansaf.
I fall in love with hummus and falafel. They have amazing cuisine and I recommend try everything!
They have also pretty good sweets, fruit and vegetable.

The Internet on the hotel was bad, but before our leaving they changed routers and next year it should be better:-)

Be ready that it is a different country with different habits. When you will respect their habits, and you will be kind to the others they will show you how their culture is beautiful!
For girls - bring long skirts and trousers, you don't have to wear a scarf (just for visit mosque).

My recommendation is to visit Jordan; it is a beautiful country!
