ročník 4.About the country
Location of the place
Kaiserslautern is a city in southwest Germany, located in the Bundesland of Rhineland-Palatinate at the edge of the Palatinate Forest.
City
Kaiserslautern is home to 100 000 people. Additionally, approximately 45,000 NATO military personnel inhabit the city and its surrounding distric. The city is also home to football club 1. FC Kaiserslautern that has won the German championship four times. It is a modern centre of information and communications technology and home to a well-known university, a technical college and many international research institutes located throughout the city. Kaiserslautern is located in one of the largest contiguous forested areas in Central Europe, the Palatinate Forest, which offers numerous hiking trails and lakes to visitors.
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
Near Kaiserslautern is a city of Mannheim, Heidelberg and two hours away there are cities like Frankfurt am Main and Stuttgart. For a trip, I definitely recommend Heidelberg. It's famous for its historical core, castle and university. It is one of the most popular destinations of foreign tourists in Germany. Then I recommend to visit Frankfurt. It is the fifth-largest city of Germany ant it is the largest financial centre in continental Europe. Frankfurt is a city of commerce, culture, education, tourism and transportation. Nearby is located Frankfurt Airport - one of the world's busiest.

Meeting other foreign students
In work I met other internsts, but they were Americans and they didn't cooperate with IAESTE.

Kaiserslautern is football town. Everybody here plays or watch football. There are two open air swimming pools, which are amazing during summer, and many tennis courts and of course football fields.
