There are plenty of opportunities to visit country around Macau.
It is only 1 hour by ferry from Hong Kong.
5 hours by fast train to Guilin.
There are also cheap flights from Macau or HK to Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Mainland China etc.

Postgrad house at the campus of University of Macau. The accommodation was for free.
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
No pick-up at the airport but we were informed how to get to university. There was dinner organized by IAESTE Macau.
Meeting other foreign students
Local IAESTE coordinator made a group chat for all incoming trainees so meeting new people was quite easy.
Sport and culture
Sports centre on the campus was perfect (gym, squash, badminton, basketball, tennis, beach volleyball, etc. Almost every Thursday we went to the Cubic club because there was free entrance and alcohol that night.
Food, local specialties
Cantonese food is really delicious. It is better to go for lunch/dinner with your Chinese colleagues, they know the places.
