Bachelor Jindřich Duda, CTU Prague,
ročník 3About the country
Location of the place
Jaipur is the capital and the largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan in Western India. It has over 3m inhabitants. The Uni is located out of the city and there isn´t any opportunity to purchase anything and you have to take an Uber to the city.
City
It´s India, so, don´t expect a lot, but there is a new and really fancy mall
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
Rajasthan is historical area, so that you can see a lot and most of it is reachable by buses or trains
Employer
Employer
Is a private university and in India is a more business, than education. Facilities and equipment are quite old and the level of Uni is still poor. There is a lot to improve. The Uni is vegetarian and is forbidden to bring there even a chicken. Totally forgot to drink alcohol there. Girls have to be at the campus until 7 pm and boys until 9 pm. That was one of the biggest problems we had there.
Work description
I worked from Monday to Friday. My supervisor was really nice and fully helpful. It was really nice to cooperate with them.
Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
15 000 INR, but 10 000 is for accommodation and it includes 4 meals a day in Uni´s mess.
Language requirements
English is required
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
Accommodation is provided by the Uni in a hostel right next to the school. Even though the facilities were built in 2013 and it should be still new, the accommodation is terrible. You share a dorm with bathroom with other two more students, that´s more than ok. But the most of the facilities are already broken and Uni is still unfinished. The website of uni says that there is a laundry room, but there is not! No fridge and AC is working barely. The food in mess is disgusting.
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
They picked me up at the airport and showed me everything. There wasn´t any problem at all.
Meeting other foreign students
All of them were so nice and we traveled quite a lot. I met guys from all over the world.
Sport and culture
You can do there sport a lot. One basketball pitch and one football. There is even a gym in the campus.
Food, local specialties
I love Indian food. I highly recommend you to eat out of Uni, it´s cheap and so tasty. And by the time you will get used to spices
Other information
Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
I met there one guy from Slovakia
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
I would recommend to you go to India. It has a lot to see and it´s truly incredible country. But I would also recommend you to choose other Uni or even region. The Uni is still "old fashion" and it hasn´t anything to offer. Rajasthan is a highly Hindu region, so it´s vegetarian and local people aren´t used to see people from Europe. It´s way better go to South India or East.
What not to forget with you
You can everything buy there. It is not neccessary to taky anything with you
Benefits of the internship
I met people all over the world and after the internship, we went to South India and traveled over a South India.
Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country
I had no issue with IAESTE
Overall experience with IAESTE
IAESTE is wonderful. If you ask me to go or not, I would say definitely go
