City
It has about 10 000 citizens, so not so much is going on here. There is a cinema, swimming pool and a lot of shopping centres, but not so much more.
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
The city is in the middle of the whole Switzerland, so you can easily travel all around Switzerland with the local trains. If you are under 25 you should definitely get "Halb-tax" for 185 CHF (all trains cost 50 % less) and "Gleis 7" for 129 CHF (you can travel for free between 19.00 and 5.00).

From the local municipality you can get also "Tageskarte" for 45 CHF. With this ticket you can travel all around the Switzerland for a whole day. Ships, trains and all of the public transportation in all cities are included.
e.g.: http://www.oftringen.ch/?srv=flexicard
4 "big" cities are reachable in 1 hour: Zürich, Luzern, Basel and Bern. You can also reach the borders of the whole Switzerland in under 3 hours. More less you can travel anywhere in Switzerland you want for a weekend. Also southern France, southern Germany, western Austria and northen Italy are quite easily doable.

Accommodation (price, who provided it)
The company rented for us a big apartment (4,5 rooms) and I lived there only with my one colleague. It was more than big enough. I have paid 500 CHF a month.

Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
I arrived with train to Olten and two ladies from the company picked me up.
IAESTE in Switzerland organizes tons of events, every single week trainees in Zurich, Lausanne and Bern meet up and there is also a lot of IAESTE Weekends through the whole year.

Food, local specialties
It is quite similar to Austrian and Czech cuisine, I was not blown away by anything.
Other information
Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
Internet, calls...
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
Buy the Halb-Tax and Gleis 7 discounts for public transportation right away. Then you can travel all around Switzerland quite cheap. There is not so much to do in Oftringen itself.
What not to forget with you
Passport and power plug adapter. Everything else you can easily buy here.
Benefits of the internship
I got the job at the company, so it helped me to fulfil my dream of working abroad right away after my studies. I am improving my German and technical skills every day.
Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country
Without a single problem and I have enjoyed all of the meetings and weekend activities.
Overall experience with IAESTE
I was a member in Czech Republic and Austria for more than 4 years and I also participate a bit here in Switzerland. IAESTE here organizes tones of events and it is always fun to participate. I am glad that I have met all of this great organization.
