Location of the place
North part of Switzerland (10 km from the border with Germany).

Villigen is a small village 10-15 km from the border with Germany. There is one shop, where you can buy all kind of grocery and swimming pool.
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
Villigen is close to Zurich and Basel. In Switzerland are many places for hiking but most of them are located in south part of Switzerland. It is very ease to get there by train.

The Paul Scherrer Institute, PSI, is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. Three main research areas are: Matter and Material; Energy and the Environment; and Human Health. It was established in 1988 and it has around 2000 members of staff.
Work description
My work was composed of laboratory work (material preparation, battery assembling and cycling) and the processing of results.
Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
My salary was 2100 CHF/month. I payed 750 CHF for living and since Villigen is close to the border with Germany I had been shopping there so I was able to save almost half of my salary.
Language requirements
Good English.
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
Accomodation cost 750 CHF/month. I lived at PSI Guesthouse.
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
There were almost every week some event organised by IAESTE members. Travel with IAESTE members really worth it. It´s convient and you could met lot of new friends.
Meeting other foreign students
I have met many new friends in the place I lived (PSI Guesthouse) and at the IAESTE events.
Sport and culture
Switzerland is famous for hiking. If you are searching for culture, It would be the best when you visit cities lake Zurich, Luzern, Basel or Bern.
Food, local specialties
Swiss food is really expensive but always high quality and fresh. There is not any special food but everyone should buy real swiss chocolate which taste delicious.

Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
Since Switzerland is not part of EU, It´s better to buy Swiss SIM card or If you have good wifi connection you could call with your family or friends through many nowadays apps such as messenger, scype, viber etc.
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
Go shopping in Germany. If it is possible bring your own car. Travel and discover all amazing places in Switzerland. Do a trip to Italy which is close.
