Jitka Robenková, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava,
ročník 2About the country
Location of the place
My office was at Bromma - western part of Stockholm and out of the city center. I enjoyed that especially because it was near to a nice lake so we could enjoy lunch at the shore.
City
Stockholm is really great. You are never far away from some kind of lake or sea. Its landscape is also interesting with rocks and stones everywhere. It combines advantages of capital city and countryside.
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
During my stay I went for several 1 day trips. Uppsala, Sigtuna, Linkoping, Goteborg, National park near to Stockholm... lots of places to see.
Employer
Employer
I enjoyed working at Saab. I could prioritize my assigments and also come up with my own ideas. My mentor was very kind and wanted to help me with everything. I had flexible hours.
Work description
I worked as Employer Branding Intern. I enjoyed several career fairs where I was presenting Saab and I also had an opportunity to see production site in Goteborg. My main task was to update and adjust career section on webpage. Work in CMS EpiServer.
Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
It was enough even for expensive Swedish beer.
Language requirements
Fluent in English
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
IAESTE Stockholm arranged accommodation for me. I lived in southern suburbs of Stockholm with a Georgian family. Only their father spoke English and not very well. 40mins commuting to work every day.
I had my own little room for 5000SEK. Apparently housing situation in Stockholm is terrible.

Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
IAESTE found me accommodation just 2 days before my arrival. I was quite stressed. However it seems that in Stockholm it is very difficult to find a place to stay. Housing situation is bad. They picked me up from Arlanda airport and helped me to get a sim card and access card for subway. During 2 months of my stay they organised 3 events. I got in touch with other international students and interns on my own.
Meeting other foreign students
I met a lot of people thanks to Facebook groups and events. Something was always happening. That is an advantage of interning in capital city.
Sport and culture
Swedes take sport seriously. They exercise almost every day. From culture perspective sometimes it is hard to approach them but in the end they are very kind people in general.
Food, local specialties
Most traditional food I have tried is Surstromming - fermented herring. Besides that they have a lot of candy - mainly likorish.

Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic

Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
Engage in arranging your accommodation and start few months in advance. It is difficult to find a nice accommodation and it will effect your stay a lot.
What not to forget with you
Credit card. Thing you can forget is cash.
Benefits of the internship
Numerous. I learnt how to work 8 hours a day, I made great friends and now I have open doors for me to Saab after my studies. This experience helped me to develope both, my personality and my career.
Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country
Nothing much. I expected more interaction. Although Stockholm is a small local committee. Also interaction before my arrival could have been better.
Overall experience with IAESTE
ok. both Czech and Swedish comitees answered all my questions and helped me if they could. Although Stockholm's comittee still has a long way to go.
