City
My internship was in Banja Luka, the capital city of Republika Srpska with 200 thousand inhabitants.
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
In neighborhood there are 2 interesting things. Vrbas river with possibility of rafting and swimming and Banj Brdo monument on a hill from where you can see entire city. In greater distance From Banja Luka there is definitely interesting Sarajevo and Mostar.
Employer
Employer
I worked in telecommunication company m:tel which is one of the biggest company in Republic of Srbska.
Work description
My department was related to optical transport network. I was assigned by mentor who was teaching me a lot of stuff about optical cables and variety of optical devices. I had flexible working period so I usually stayed at office from 11 am till 4 pm.
Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
600 Bam (300€)/month. I think it could have been sufficient if I didn't eat outside and I didn't travel with other interns during weekends
Language requirements
Required language at work was English
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
150 BAM (75€)/month. Provided by local IAESTE
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
There was always someone who picked up incoming interns and took them to their apartment.
Meeting other foreign students
I lived with all other interns in one big house, so I was in contact with them all the time.
Sport and culture
Local people love basketball so we had possibility to play with them. There was also some parks with outdoor gym and possibility to run.
About culture, we visited 2 musical festivals, 3 other big cities and a few national parks.

Food, local specialties
Very common food in Bosnia (and probably in whole Balkan) is cevapi, pljeskavica and burek. It's possible to buy it either in fast food or in restaurant. It tastes good but it's rather unhealthy. There are also some Italian restaurants with pizza and pasta.
Other information
Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
Skype, email etc.. Phone calls are really expensive coz Bosnia is outside of EU roaming class.
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
Don't be scared of Bosnia, it's really cool place for internship.
What not to forget with you
Summer clothes, office wear (pants and t-shirt are usually ok), jacket (I didn't have it but I would definitely use it if I had one), and some example of Czech food and alcohol.
Benefits of the internship
I gained a little knowledge in optical transport network and Balkan culture. Plus I met there really friendly poeple from lots of different countries. It was fun
Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country
I think that both IAESTE works just fine and both do a great job.
Overall experience with IAESTE
Everything was ok.
