About the country

Location of the place

Rzeszow is a city located in southeastern Poland. It is a metropolis located on the border between the Carpathian Mountains and the Sandomierz Basin River Wisłok at an altitude of 200-330 m n. M. Rzeszow and near one of the warmest parts of Poland, has a long and hot summers and mild winters. It is the economic and cultural center and an important transport hub.

City

Rzeszow is a small town with about 180,000 inhabitants. Modern, no old buildings, many green spaces for sport. Along the river's bike path, where every day you meet a lot of sports enthusiasts. The city's many parks, fountains, shopping centers ... a joy to live here.

Surroundings (possible trips, ...)

Additional area smaller cities such as Lancut, Przezmysl, Lezajnsk,. Among the bigger cities of Krakow (distance 3 hours), Varsaw (5 hours), Wroclaw (6 hours). Wonderful place for hiking is the town of Zakopane and the Polish Tatras, TOP.

Employer

Employer

Rzeszow University of Technology, The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics

Work description

In the early days, before I quit blinking a little, I prepared a presentation about the Czech Republic for our faculty and after that I worked in the simulation program FlexSim. According to the English manual I drew up the modules and filled exercise. Last week I helped my supervisor to prepare an article on Transporting system in Czech Republic.

Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)

1000 PLN / month. Income was sufficient, but I suggest you take the same amount of money with you because you receive payment until after 2-3 weeks of work. With the money was not a problem, you living, eating and enjoying traveling…like a king.

Language requirements

English at level B1. No problem you can speak with the coordinators IAESTE, with the employer and foreign students.

Accommodation (price, who provided it)

The hotel took care of IAESTE Poland. We lived in dormitories on the university campus, a single room and 3 beds, shared bathroom with toilet, shared kitchen in the hallway. We paid 330 PLN / month. Dormitories were sufficient and very similar tracks in the Czech Republic. As I wrote here someone in front of me, it really is celebrating is cooking singing on the tracks before the tracks, everywhere ... but it's not so bad.

Social life

Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)

Very good service right from arrival. Members / coordinators IAESTE waiting for me at the bus stop, drove me to college, borrowed dishes are handled documents. After the hotel showed me the nearest shops and important places and the next day they were escorted into the work. The whole good of my internship were available and helped me solve all problems. Whenever held some events, we communicated together and I always speak up. Excellent organization.

Meeting other foreign students

The first meeting took place already at the inaugural barbecue...slivovice, connecting people. After a week, my roommate arrived from Uzbekistan (I can not live alone), so communication was every day. We had his international group (Bosnia, Uzbekistan, Poland, India and Czech Republic), and with this group each week we traveled and organized events. Over time we added students from Jordan, China, Austria, Spain and more ...

Sport and culture

Sport can do here every day and everywhere. Each college has its own gym, outside the volleyball courts, outdoor gym, a large sports hall. Along the river led cycling, where one could ride a bike, run or roller skate. Rzeszow is a sports center.

Food, local specialties

Near our job, we had a university canteen where you could pick up from 6 dishes ... just could not understand much of what you are ordering. In the city there are plenty of shops, some known and the Czech Republic (Lidl, Tesco) where you can buy all the groceries as well as in the Czech Republic. You can cook, go to the restaurant (the prices are the same as in the Czech Republic), and we even found a downtown pub and Czech (Czech meals, Czech beers). The Polish dishes suggest pierogi, zapiekanka, Dara kebab and then drinking beer Ksiazece and vodka Zubrówka Gras.

Other information

Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic

Communication from the Czech Republic, I did not seek power, but without the problem on a call (if you have roaming), connect to the Internet (cable on the rails and wi-fi everywhere), you can send a view.

Recommendations for students who will go to the same place

You don´t remember to bring sports clothes because Rzeszow is a sports town. Prepare for barbecues and parties almost every day, unpredictable weather, long waits at checkpoints and that you do not want to come home.

What not to forget with you

Slivovice, money, book, sunglasses, flip flops but also warmer jacket.

Benefits of the internship

The main advantage is the use and improvement of English, you speak every day. Furthermore, meeting new people from different parts of the world, gaining contacts, while looser work experience a vacation.

Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country

I can not say anything negative. Excellent organization, friendly and professional, permanent communication and a desire to help in any situation ... hat down.

Overall experience with IAESTE

I work at IAESTE for the Zlin branch and if there will be more options, go up again, and I'll drive out to foreign programs.
