Slavyansk is administration city of Ukraine part of Donbass region. City is very safe and far from frontline.
Krasnohorivka is frontline city, approx. 10 km from Donetsk (the capital city of Donetsk People's Republic)

Slavyansk is normal Ukranian town. City full of life, restaurants, shops, banks, ... It is possible to travel by train there directly from Kyiv. Many humanitarian aid organisations are based there.
Krasnohorivka is small half-destroyed frontline city. Threre are working just couple of shops, no one bank and restaurant are working there. Life is hard there but possible to survive.

Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
There is Holy Mountains Lavra close to Slavyansk. It is Ukranian holy place which includes Sviatohirsk Cave Monastery. Close to this place is very beautiful Sviatohori National Nature Park. Traveling by train is a great and cheap possibility how to travel in Ukraine (Slavyansk have a big train station).

Humanitarian organisation "Chuť pomáhat" is small Czech NGO connected to Ukranian and international NGOs. They provide hummanitarian aid (mainly food support, winterisation, psychosocial support, ...) for Donbass people living close to Ukranie-Russian frontline.
Work description
I worked like local coordinator in Krasnohorivka. I coordinated some fundraising projects, supervision and evaluation food distribution projects. I was responsible about finance, supervision and evaluation of medical and psychosocial projects.
Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
I worked like a volunteer. I had no salary but they gave me all living expenses for free.
Language requirements
We communicated generally on the Russian language.
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
My accomodation was for free.
I lived generally in small warm house. There were the basic but sufficient living conditions.

Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
I organise traineeship, transport, ... by myself. I didnt need any IAESTE help.
Meeting other foreign students
I meet many another hummanitarian workers. I have made many new friendships.
Sport and culture
I didn't have any sport activities. Its little bit complicated in frontline city. We had couple of cultural and big city celebrations there. I enjoyed them so much.
Food, local specialties
Local specialities are Green borscht soup and delicious horseradish-honey vodka. Both are very, very addicted :D :D :D

Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
We had free access on internet and mobile internet too. So there were no problems with communication with home.
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
Be careful about your security. Study security situation. Prepare yourself to basic living conditions.
Be prepared that people will love you and they will respect you because you come there to help them. They will be very thankful to you.

Don't forget some candies for kids.

You can feel how hard and unfair is life in frontline city. You can help another people.

I found interesting job at Ukraine. IAESTE helped me prepare my traineeship and make it real.
