Accommodation (price, who provided it)
accomadation was good, room in the appartment of 8 rooms with other 7 students, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, washing machine, oven, microwave, TV in each room, and possibility to connect internet, 210 Euro per month including charges , accomadation provided by IAESTE, close to metro station, a bit far from work, but close to downtown.
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
In airport one member of IAESTE was waiting me, took me by car to appartment. IAESTE PT organized a trip to Arrabida in the third week of my stay there, trainees from all over the Portugal came to this trip.
Meeting other foreign students
I met alot of new friends(IAESTE trainees and Erasmus students) with which we went out, and organized trips to other cities of Portugal, I keep in touch with them.
Sport and culture
Swimming and tourism. Huge shore side close to Lisbon (Cascais, Estoriel, Carcavelas), hot weather around 30-40 degrees, very nice on the beach. In Cascais it is possible to take bicycles for free and ride around the city. There is a possibility to learn how to dive in diving school, around 20 Euro per lesson.
Food, local specialties
There was a restaurant next to work (around 5-7 Euro). There were few supermarkets next to appartment, the prices are a bit higher than in CZ, but the sea food is cheap. During the trip to Arrabida mountains we tried the Portugees cuisine (sea food).
Other information
Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
You can easily use all types of comunications. At work I had my own pc, connected to internet. I bought a TMN sim card for my mobile (costed 30 Euro with the amount of 30 Euro credit), to call to CZ it was around 0.5 Euro per minute. To call from CZ: cheap to call to fixed phone.
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
good knowledge of english language, first month take money with you to pay for accomadation and transportation (40 Euro), because the salary is payed by the end of the month
What not to forget with you
Camera and full swiming bag.
Benefits of the internship
The topic of my diploma thesis in CZ is similar to the work which I have done during the training period. Working in a team was very interesting. I start to be more responsible.
Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country
IAESTE PT organized one trip to Arrabida for all the trainees, when I had troubles with the accomodation, IAESTE helped me to find other one very fast.
Overall experience with IAESTE
Excellent. It was a very good experience for me, I enjoyed all the 2,5 months which I stayed there. The training was good and usefull, not complicated. The country is nice so as people, it was very interesting to face a new culture, traditions, to know alot of new people and make new friends.
