Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)

Approximately 1900 Somoni. It is enough to eat out or pay taxi. To pay trips you have to pay out of your own pocket.

Language requirements

Definitely you should lear russian. No one could speak english at work. Locals appreciate if you can speak russian. I can recommend duolingo, it helped me a lot

Host familly (for free). They cooked meal for me and everytime it was delicious.

One german student came in the middle of my stay. Time the time we took dinner together.

Sport and culture

There are a lot of monuments to see. You can ride a bike or play tennis.

Food, local specialties

If you dont like coriander you will face a serious problem as coriander is everywhere. However I have enjoyed local meal (usually different types of soup or rice) and huge amount of meat.

There was a wifi connection at home. You can purchase mobile data (10 GB/100 Somoni/1 month), I recommend you to download a Tcell app so you can check you current status.

Recommendations for students who will go to the same place

Take some comfortable, airy clothes as the weather is really hot (july, august). You can buy coffee machines and sell them there since they don't have any. It is a little bit complicated to have a good coffee in Khujand, good coffee is in 5&5 coffee and bakery.

What not to forget with you

A present for you host familly, insect repellent, dollars, VISA card (mastercard does not always work), stomach pills.

Benefits of the internship

You wont get any work experience but you will hav an opportunity to compare european lifestyle with Tajikistan and you'll find you're dealing with stupid stuff. Especially if you're a woman, because compared to women in Tajikistan we have tremendous freedom. I have found my second familly there.
