Okolí místa praxe: I stayed in São Paulo, but I visited the main museum (for MASP, you need to book your ticket online).
I also visited the parks, the zoo, the city center, and enjoyed some parties on Paulista Avenue.
The other international interns went on a trip to Rio de Janeiro.

O firmě: I was employed directly at the university in the Food Quantitative Microbiology Laboratory at the Faculty of Food Engineering. The laboratory was big and well equipped with about 15 employees and students from different parts of Brazil, Mozambique and Ecuador. Two other interns from Europe were also present for about half of my stay. I enjoyed the working environment very much.

Náplň práce: I was modeling flames in Python using cantera and studying soot precursors. Every Friday, there were presentations where each student presented their weekly progress.

Místní kuchyně: At the Christmas market in Jena, I got to try some of the local food, which was delicious. There were plenty of traditional treats like bratwurst, pretzels, perfect for the chilly weather.

Sport a kultura: In the city, we visited museums, temples, and went hiking or sightseeing. There are many things to do, both cultural and fun. It was also possible to see horse races.
