Bc Monika Nemečkayová, Brno University of Technology,
ročník 5About the country
Location of the place
Rijeka is situated on the coast in northern part of Croatia.
City
Rijeka is the biggest port in Croatia and it is an industrial city, therefore there are almost no tourists. City center is nice and at least not so expensive like touristic ones. Beaches are located on outskirts so you have to take bus or car there. I can recommend ,,Bazeni Kantrida´´ beach when you dont wanna be on some overcrowded small beach or travel to far from the city. There is a beautiful castle Trsat with stunning view, or you could visit art gallery, museum, Torpedo launch station, ruins in the forest, astronomical centre or art kino with international movies.
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
Hike on mountain Vojak, colosseum in Pula, Krk island, Plitvice lakes national park, Krka national park, ferry to Novalija.

Accommodation (price, who provided it)
There are new dormitories Trsat, which are unfortunatelly closed during the summer and open are just old Ivan Goran Kovacic dorms. Price there is only 60 euro per a month but it was too old and depressive for me so I found a privat apartment with two big rooms and kitchen for 300 euro.

Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
Tina was a memeber of IAESTE and she took care of me, picked me up on the bus station by car, helped with all paperworks and introduced me to employer. And I joined a trip to Slovenia which was organized by IAESTE too.
Meeting other foreign students
There was just one another intern from IAESTE, but around 70 Erasmus students so we hanged out mainly with them.
