About the country
Location of the place
The city is in the suburbs of the capital town of that region. Manipal is mainly a student city so you will meet a lot of people near or same age. Secondly, it is not as crowded as bigger indian cities.
City
I was suprised how was Manipal clean. Eventhough, I mostly spent my time around the campus I must say that it was super clean everywhere.
Surroundings (possible trips, ...)
I would recommend visiting beaches in Udupi. It is closeby and it is worth it even in rainy seasons. Also you can visit Manipal lake for a nice stroll. I recommend asking at MIT edu building for a pamphlet that will give you all the tips where to go. I heared End point is very nice but unfortunately it is closed during the monsunes, so I was unable to go.
Employer
Employer
I worked at Manipal Institute of Technology, which is a private university.
Work description
Everyday in the morning I met my professor and talked about previous day's work and what would be the plan for that day. Sometimes it took a lot of time sometimes I was finished by lunch. My work was about mechanical properties of plastics and its wood composites. I found my work very interesting and applicable later in my studies. My work was slightly different from what was in the o-form.
Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
As I was there only for 6 weeks I got my salary at the end of the internship. I got 9000 rupees per month. For me it was not sufficient since I spent money on a lot of activities not only food.
Language requirements
Before the internship I was worried about my english skills, but the minute I got there that fear disapperead. Everyone talked in english, however, with strong indian accent. So I sometimes looked like a fool when I asked them to repeat the sentence multiple times. But overall I had not trouble communicating. At work my professor spoke english very good so no trouble there.
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
I had my accommodation provided by the employer. It was deducted from my salary. All the interns were at the same hostel, some shared a room.
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
Local IAESTE did many things with us. The main event they did was called Namaste Manipal and it were 4 days of events each different. They put a lot of effort in it and it was awesome. Also they took us to the local football field for a match. They also arranged a pick-up at the airport which was very comfortable.
Meeting other foreign students
We became very close as we spent most of our time together. We planned a lot of trips together, had meals together and so on. We plan on meeting in europe afterwards.
Sport and culture
Me and 2 interns played a lot of table tennis together. Almost everyday after work we went to play. Also we played football together with other Indians.
During the last week we went to see a cultural event happening in the university. India has a lot of holidays or ceremonies so experienced a lot of different celebrations.

Food, local specialties
We mostly ate at food courts close to our work so we had a lot of indian dishes. I must say that it is very spicy. Prepare for that. A lot of gravy, rice, naans, paneer. At the end I was craving czech cuisine. :)
Other information
Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
I mostly talked with my friends and parents on whatsapp, but you have internet connection everywhere so there was no trouble in this area.
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
Do not bother taking a lot of shoes. I used crocs the entire time. Also umbrella.
What not to forget with you
Do not forget long pants, as it is necessary at university.
Benefits of the internship
Experience new culture, meet new people,
Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country
The communication with IAESTE was great. They helped me with everything I needed and I could ask them about anything
Overall experience with IAESTE
5/5, 10/10
