Employer
Employer
Tokyo metropolitan university. Very friendly enviroment with lot of nice people. Profesor took us on educational trips in the natural park.
Work description
The work was in form of a small forest survey with camera traps and was dependent on my own initiative. Which was cool. Learned a lot.
Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
Salary was definitely enough for food, rent, travel. Bring some cash for suveniers tho. Got money on arival.
Language requirements
English is definitely enough, japanese would be amazing.
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
Provided by university (profesor) at campus for 35 000 yen/month.
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
I was picked up at trainstation after talking to the iaeste pick up memmeber. We had lot of fun activities and also met up randomly for food and drinks.
Meeting other foreign students
I met lot of students from rest of asia like Philipines and Taiwan. Also japanise students. Super nice people
Sport and culture
I didnt do any sports but culture is on every corner.
Food, local specialties
RAMEN, SUSHI. RAMEN, SOBA NOOOODLES. All of it is good. Eat. Its supper afordable. Go eat out.
Other information
Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
There is czech pub in tokyo rann by two japanise XD. Met few czech tourists and then there is ambasay.
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
Get pasmo or suica online. Learn some japanise phrases. Its better to take out cash from atm than exchage at exchange shop. Better rate and less fees. Its also very cheap to send small parcels via japanise post. I did it alone but the iaeste will love to help you.
What not to forget with you
Empty lugage, DEODORANT, everything else u can get. I jave sensitive skin and there is parfume in everything so think about that and take hiking boots and clothes in case u wanna climb mount fudgi (they wont let u otherwise)
Benefits of the internship
I am much calmer, more independent and learned how to search sources.
Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country
They are supper chill, amazing folk who genuenly enjoy working as iaeste memmbers.
Overall experience with IAESTE
Just top tier.
