Location of the place
Manipal University Jaipur is located in the western part of India, in the outskirts of the city of Jaipur. The university lies in a quiet campus, surrounded by nature about 1 hour drive to the centre of Jaipur.
The overall impression of the campus is very positive - the university is modern and spacious. The campus is large and divided into several zones that include teaching spaces, laboratories, libraries, sports facilities and student residences. There are many shops and restaurants on campus, so there is no need to go to the city centre. Everything you need is located on campus.

I went to a school where I worked with a professor on a project. The professor specializes in urban planning and architecture, which provided valuable insight into climate-responsible planning in tropical areas. I am so grateful to have worked with Dr. Sunanda Kapoor. She was very helpful and supportive and also taught me many new things that I can use in my further studies.
Work description
During my internship at the University of Jaipur, I worked on "Street Geometry and Urban Planning for Climate Adaptation." I was assigned four cities: Jaipur and Chandigarh in India, and Rome and Prague in Europe. In each city, I chose four different streets to analyze in detail. I focused primarily on how the geometric parameters of the streets, such as their width, height of surrounding buildings and orientation, affect the thermal comfort of pedestrians and traffic. Part of my research involved tracking solar radiation at different times and seasons to determine how shading and urban layout help regulate temperature in urban areas. I also looked at airflow, which also significantly affects thermal comfort on the streets.
As part of my field research in Jaipur, I reached out to local residents to share their experiences of daily life in the city and asked what they would like to change about it, if anything. In addition, I collected data on shading, temperature fluctuations, and the relationship between street width and building height in the context of the urban structure. Professionally, this internship brought me a lot of new knowledge and practical skills in the field of urban planning. I learned how to use new analytical tools such as the solar chart and the wind rose, which helped me to better understand the relationship between urban infrastructure and climate conditions. I also gained a better understanding of approaches to sustainable planning in different parts of the world.

Salary (sufficient for local conditions?)
I got 15500 INR per month, but more than half of my salary paid for accommodation and there was not enough money for lunches, dinners and buying credit for my mobile phone. That's why I recommend taking more money for trips, souvenirs and food.
Language requirements
At the university, the teachers teach in English and a lot of local people speak English. There was no problem to speak English anywhere.
Accommodation (price, who provided it)
We paid 8000INR per month for accommodation. The accommodation was on campus, but my roommate and I had to change accommodation every week because there was no room available for us with working air conditioning for more than a week.
Social life
Meeting IAESTE members (pick-up at the airport, organized events...)
When I arrived at the airport in Jaipur, there was a taxi waiting to take me to the university. An IAESTE member was waiting for me at the university and helped me check in and arrange my SIM card. IAESTE members organized trips for us on weekends and during the week we went to the centre of Jaipur to buy souvenirs or try Indian food.
Meeting other foreign students
We stayed on campus with other students, which allowed us to make new contacts and friendships with people from all over the world. It was great to share different experiences and knowledge with people from different cultures.
Sport and culture
In the afternoons after work at the university, we often went out in the evenings to explore the city. Jaipur is full of colourful markets where we spent a lot of time shopping for souvenirs, clothes or trying local specialities.
On weekends we then had the opportunity to travel around the area, visiting famous landmarks such as Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal. Or we went to more distant cities like Chandigarh, Agra, Udaipur, Jaisalmer. These trips were a great opportunity not only to relax but also to learn about the rich history and culture of India.

Food, local specialties
As for the food, Indian cuisine was a real treat. Every day we had the opportunity to sample different dishes, from the milder flavours to the spicier ones, and we visited both traditional restaurants and local street food.
Other information
Possibilites to communicate with the Czech Republic
I bought an Indian sim card with data and connected to the Czech Republic via WhatsApp and other social networks.
Recommendations for students who will go to the same place
ry to be as patient as possible. If you go in the summer, it will definitely rain, so be prepared for rain. Enjoy your time in India it's a beautiful country.
What not to forget with you
Don't forget to bring an umbrella and flip flops, because if you go during the summer, it will definitely rain.
Benefits of the internship
I learned a lot about myself during my internship. First of all, I discovered that I can function and adapt to a completely different cultural and social environment. This experience made me stronger not only professionally but also personally, as I learned to be more patient, open-minded and able to listen to other points of view.
The internship also made me rethink my approach to studying architecture and urban planning. I realised how important it is to take into account different cultural and climatic conditions when planning and designing urban projects. I saw how architecture can be adapted to the specific needs of the environment and how much impact it has on people's daily lives.
This experience also inspired me to focus more on the international aspects of my field and to be more open to different approaches and perspectives.

Cooperation with IAESTE in the foreign country
IAESTE members have been very helpful. They helped us to get a sim card, went to work with us on the first day and spent their free time with us in the afternoon. They also helped us organize trips or organized them themselves.
Overall experience with IAESTE
Thanks to IAESTE I got to know a new country and made friends from different countries. I learned so many new things in my professional and personal life.
