Dear IAESTE trainee,

A Czech company for a traineeship has accepted you and we would like to take this opportunity of welcoming you to the programme. We hope, your stay in the Czech republic (CR) will be interesting, worthwhile and useful, and that you will look upon your IAESTE traineeship not only as a summer job but as a unique opportunity to explore our country, way of life, and culture. To more easily facilitate this aim, we invite you to participate in a summer programme jointly organised by our reception service and your employer. It may will be your first trip to CR and we anticipate that you will find our country different from your own country. To help to your adjustment to life in our country, we have provided some basic information about the country and its way of life. We encourage you to read it carefully in the hope that it will help you to avoid potential problems and benefit you in making a smooth transition to the life in CR. In the case of any doubts or problems, do not hesitate to contact the nearest IAESTE reception service.

My training in Prague

Its hard to even begin to describe my experience with IAESTE Czech Republic. I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to practice with the Department of Analytical Chemistry in the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague.

From the moment I was accepted on placement, things were exactly as I expected them to be, even better! I was given all the information I needed and felt free to ask any questions necessary. I packed my things and took off, excited at the prospect of new things...

How was Budapest Weekend (August 2nd – 5th)

After 7 hours of free hot chocolates and teas on the student agency bus from Prague, we arrived to Budapest bus station, at 11pm. In a rather confused state , we st arted to try to make our way to the accommodation. It took us a while before we managed to get hold of some Hungarian money, and buy a ticket for the metro. Not many people spoke English, it was more a case of “Sprechen zie Deutch?”, so we were lucky to have with us a native German!
